The Miami Heat Send: Mario Chalmers (76) - $773,500 - $847,000 Daequan Cook (74) - $1,362,120 - $2,169,856 - $3,126,764 2010 2nd rnd pick (Miami) Total = $2,135,620
The Indiana Pacers Send: TJ Ford (78) - $8,500,000 - $8,500,000 Luther Head (73) - $884,881 Total = $9,384,881
The difference is $7,249,261. The Miami Heat is under the cap by $8,662,219.
We really need some help at Point Guard and we believe TJ Ford is the player to fill that void. We think he will thrive in a running game with D wade. TJ is only 27 and about to reach his peak playing period. Luther Head is a great addition off the bench, who can score quickly and play the 1 or 2 positions. Pat Riley.

I accept. I like this trade all around for my team. I downgrade a tad bit at the PG but we get a younger and waaaay cheaper player. We get immediate cap space also. I think Cook is a better all around player than Head also. The second round pick can help me trade up in the first if I dont land a pick I like at the end of the season.

Contrary to popular belief, TJ Ford has had a disastrous season (more or less) & the Pacers themselves hate the guy. Personally I would NEVER EVER do this trade because it simply benefits the pacers way way too much with by getting great young pieces and 7mil in cap relief.
Well with all that said, its their choice. Ford COULD play like a super star next season for all we know. So I'll accept I guess

Yeh I recognise Ford is still inconsistent, especially with his shooting.. but we dont necessarily need him to score a huge amount.. we need his speed, defence and passing ability. A duo of ford and wade in our backcourt would have to be easily the fastest in the league, and defensively I believe they can take down any teams backcourt. Ford is definately worth taking the chance, which we needed to do, to stay in division 1 for next season. Pat Riley.
